จังหวัดอุบลราชธานีเป็นเมืองแห่งดอกบัวงามที่มีประวัติศาสตร์วัฒนธรรม ประเพณีและวิถีชีวิตของผู้คนน่าเที่ยวชมและสัมผัส เป็นดินแดนที่ราบสูงที่มากด้วยมนต์เสน่ห์อีกแห่งของอีสาน มีลำน้ำมูลเป็นเส้นเลือดใหญ่หล่อเลี้ยงชีพ และมีลำน้ำโขงเป็นเส้นแบ่งพรมแดนและอารยธรรมกับประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน เมื่อนึกถึงอุบลราชธานีคราใดหลายท่านจะคิดถึงประเพณีแห่เทียนเข้าพรรษาอันเลื่องชื่อและตระการตาระดับประเทศ ที่นักท่องเที่ยวทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติต่างรู้จักเป็นอย่างดี และที่ยิ่งไปกว่านั้นคือ อุบลราชธานีเป็นดินแดนก่อนประวัติศาสตร์หลายพันปีที่ยังปรากฏร่องรอยอารยธรรม แห่งหนึ่งของโลกอีกด้วย อีกทั้งยังเป็นนครแห่งธรรมะ ที่ปรากฏหลักฐานตามวัดวาอาราม สถาปัตยกรรมและศิลปกรรมอันงดงามที่ยังคงอยู่จากอดีตถึงปัจจุบัน อันแสดงถึงความเลื่อมใสศรัทธาในพุทธศาสนาและความสงบร่มเย็นของชาวอุบลราชธานี

       ในโอกาสเทศกาลสงกรานต์วันขึ้นปีใหม่ไทยนี้ ชาวอุบลราชธานีขอเชิญชวนนักท่องเที่ยวและพุทธศาสนิกชนทุกท่านร่วมสร้างความเป็นสิริมงคลให้แก่ชีวิตในวันขึ้นปีใหม่ไทย ด้วยการสักการะบูชาพระบรมสารีริกธาตุและพระอรหันตธาตุโลก 36 องค์ ณ พุทธสถานมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏอุบลราชธานีและวัดบ้านยางน้อย อ.เขื่องใน สรงน้ำพระแก้วบุษราคัม ณ วัดศรีอุบลรัตนารามวรวิหาร และพระพุทธปฏิมาอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ตามวัดต่างๆ รวมทั้งเที่ยวชมสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวทางธรรมชาติอีกแห่งที่จะขอแนะนำในหน้าร้อนนี้คือ สามพันโบก หรือแกรนด์แคนยอนอุบลฯ

       Ubon Ratchathani Province, the home of the beautiful lotus blossom, has such a fascinating history, culture, tradition and way of life of the people. It is situated on a plateau, and is yet another charming part of Isaan. There is the Moon River that is a major artery feeding life, and there is the Kong River which acts as the border between us and our neighbouring countries. When thinking of Ubon Ratchathani, many people automatically think of the Candle Festival at the beginning of Buddhist Lent, which is a major event that is famous throughout the country, and is well-known to both Thai and foreign tourists. Even greater than that is the fact that Ubon Ratchathani province is a land dating back many thousands of years into prehistory, and is yet another place where traces of ancient civilizations appear. Ubon Ratchathani is a city of morality which can be seen in local temples, architecture and works of art that are extremely beautiful and still exist today, and which expresses the glowing light of Buddhism as well as the tranquility of the people of Ubon Ratchathani.

          In this year's Thai New Year Songkran Festival, the people of Ubon Ratchathani would like to invite all tourists and Buddhists to get together to create prosperity on Thai New Year's Day by paying homage to the relics of Buddha and 36 Buddhist saints at Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, and at Wat Ban Yang Noi, Amphoe Khuang Nai; bathe the Phra Kaew Bussarakam Buddha image at Wat Sri Ubon Rattanaram Worawihan, and many other Buddha images at various temples. Also included is a recommendation to visit a natural tourist spot this summer - Saam Pan Bok or the Grand' Canyon' of Ubon Ratchathani.
